Lorenzo Melgarejo interesting Arsenal, says Benfica defenders agent
Arsenal are keeping tabs on Benfica full-back Lorenzo Melgarejo, according to the players agent.
The Paraguayan, who can operate all the way down the left side, enjoyed an impressive campaign with the Portuguese outfit, and has seemingly caught the eye of Arsene Wengers talent spotters.
Arsenal and Fenerbahce have enquired about Melgarejo. But so far there has been nothing concrete, agent Juan Gabriel Appleyard told Radio Monumental.
Having signed Nacho Monreal in January its unlikely Wenger would consider bringing in another left-back, however, the Frenchman may have Melgarejo earmarked for a role further up the field to challenge the likes of Lukas Podolski for a starting place.
The 22-year-old scored two goals and contributed three assists in the Primeira Liga last season, and featured in Benficas Europa League final defeat to Chelsea.
