Mata rubbishes talk of Blues exit
Chelsea star Juan Mata insists he will ignore all talk of a summer exit from Stamford Bridge until he hears from new boss Jose Mourinho.
Reports in the past week have linked the Spanish playmaker with a move away from Chelsea, despite winning two European titles in his two seasons at the club, as well as claiming back-to-back Player of the Year awards.
Talk was started in the Spanish press that the returning Mourinho would be keen to let highly-rated Mata leave in order to raise transfer funds, with owner Roman Abramovich believed to be keeping the purse strings tightly pulled.
But the 25-year-old fan-favourite, who is currently on international duty with Spain in the Confederations Cup, says he has no reason to believe the speculation.
Nobody at Chelsea has told me that Mourinho wants me out, Mata told Spanish paper Marca.
When I finished the season I was told that they were very happy with my performances and with the two years Ive spent with the club. I have three years left on my contract. Im very happy with Chelsea.
Mourinho Id prefer to wait until I meet him and work with him before I judge him. Thats simple logic.
And Mata, who scored 20 goals in all competitions for the Blues last term, is so confident of continuing his stay in west London that he has already started looking ahead to the coming season.
We still need to win the Premier League, he added. Its something Id really like to do. It must be a great feeling to win a title that so many teams with so much history compete for.
