Alberto: I'm excited to sign for Liverpool
Luis Alberto says he is excited to complete a transfer to Liverpool after the club finally struck a £6.8million deal with Sevilla for his services.
Reds boss Brendan Rodgers has been chasing exciting forward Alberto for much of the summer, but Sevilla have been playing hard ball over a fee.
The 20-year-olds agent confirmed a move was close last week, but later added that he feared his reported £8million valuation could scupper a dream switch to Anfield.
However, the Reds finally struck a deal on Thursday after prolonged negotiations, and now expect the Spain Under-21 starlet on Merseyside for a medical.
I am excited to go to a club like Liverpool, a new culture, a new language, I have to adapt quickly though, said Alberto.
There are many Spaniards in England doing quite well. Seeing them succeed excites me.
I am really looking forward to this great step.
Liverpool will pay £6.8million up front for the attacker, with a further £1million to follow in appearance based bonuses.
Alberto, who spent last season on-loan at Barcelona B, scored 11 goals in 36 matches but the Catalan club opted not to peruse a permanent transfer.
Liverpool are expected to give Alberto a chance to prove himself in pre-season, with the expectation that he will provide backup to Luis Suarez and new signing Iago Aspas next term.
