Loic Remy honoured to join Newcastle on season-long loan
Loic Remy says it will be an honour to play for Newcastle, after the Frenchman completed his loan move from QPR.
Remy moves to St. James Park on a season-long deal, just seven months after signing for QPR, to become Alan Pardews first signing of the summer, despite reports the Magpies are also close to a permanent deal for Lyon striker Bafetimbi Gomis.
And the French forward says he couldnt be happier to be playing Premier League football this season.
Im very happy to be a Newcastle player, Remy told the Newcastle website.
It will be a huge honour to play for such a big club. I was very flattered by the Clubs interest in me back in January and also very happy that they showed interest in me again this summer.
The Premier League is the best league in the world and thats where I want to play.
I am very motivated this year to get into the World Cup squad for my country. I know in order to do that I need to have a big season and a successful campaign with Newcastle United.
I am focussed on helping the team achieve success this season and scoring as many goals as I can.
Newcastles director of football Joe Kinnear has come under fire since being appointed earlier this summer, after a lack of transfer activity followed a string of controversial interviews.
But the former Magpies manager insists he has been working tirelessly to bring a player of Remys quality to the club.
The need for us to strengthen up front was a priority and I have been working very hard to secure one of our targets in this position, he said.
