Stoke need a leading striker

Thats a crucial fact that Mark Hughes needs to address and if you believe the newspapers, it is something hes been working on behind the scenes.
Mame Diouf, Scott Sinclair, Junior Hoillett, Victor Moses, Andros Townsend, Mevlut Erdinc, Henri Saivett and even Jermain Defoe have all been linked with Stoke, with some big fees being touted.
Whoever signs before the end of August will have a huge burden on their shoulders; reaching a pinnacle of 46 league goals in 2010/11 our most successful Premier League campaign yet.
Other than that season, Stoke havent averaged more than one goal per game with a decline in goals over the past two years.

What Stoke need is a proven, clinical goalscorer.
Its pointless Hughes making statements of intent if he doesnt action them
We showed last weekend that we can make the chances, but just dont seem to have the capability to put the ball in the net.
Jonathan Walters our go-to man for so long now missed another penalty, his fifth miss out of his last dozen or so. While that would have meant a point for us undeserved, given the balance of play its vital in such a competitive league that we take those points.
Maybe a bit more concerning though, is the lack of any other player stepping forward and wanting to take that responsibility.

In defence, we have two confident leaders in Huth and Shawcross. In midfield we have Whelan, Nzonzi and Adam all demanding and leading when the going gets tough.
Up front..
We dont have a Suarez or Sturridge; we dont have a Rooney or van Persie; we dont have a Mike Sheron or a Peter Thorne, a Simon Sturridge or a Mark Stein or a Ricardo Fuller.
Juan Agudelo could be that player and could fill that role. If you havent seen his exquisite yet arrogant goal for Revolution last weekend, take a look
Of all the fees and names being banded about, no one has mentioned Agudelo.
If there was one question I could ask Tony Scholes and Peter Coates right now, it would be this: why not spend some money on bringing in Agudelo before January
I understand that hes available on a free transfer in three months, but sign him now.
Get him acclimatised to the club and his team-mates and the league. Give him a chance now before Christmas before he picks up any injuries in the MLS or completes a full season Stateside.
