Rodgers: Reds must follow Spurs to stay competitive

Brendan Rodgers insists Liverpool must keep spending money if they are to have a chance of challenging the top teams in the Premier League.
The Reds enjoyed a strong summer transfer window, bringing in the likes of Simon Mignolet, Victor Moses and Mamadou Sakho and are currently two points clear of Chelsea at the top of the table.

But Rodgers insists those at Anfield cannot rest on their laurels and can use Tottenhams summer spending spree as an example to follow.
We still need to make improvements. Tottenham have spent £100m to try and get in the top four. It will take another few windows to get that quality in the group, said the Liverpool boss.

We can be better. We have shown in stages the quality we can have with the passion, resilience and desire. We just need to keep getting results. It is important to maintain that and we have to be vigilant. We need to keep the feel-good factor going.
Liverpool travel to Swansea on Monday night where they will be without the injured Glen Johnson but could see Daniel Sturridge, who missed Englands two World Cup qualifiers over the past week, return to action.
