Rooney opens the scoring for Man United

Wayne Rooney has opened Manchester Uniteds Champions League account for the season as he put his side a goal up against Bayer Leverkusen.
It was the perfect start to David Moyes maiden group game in the competition, as Rooney took just 22 minutes to fire United in front at Old Trafford.
The hosts started the game strongly without testing visiting goalkeeper Bernd Leno.
Some neat interchanges on the edge of Leverkusens box presented both Rooney and Robin van Persie with shooting opportunities, but neither was able to hit the target in the opening 10 minutes.
But as Moyes side increased their attacking threat, Rooney made their pressure count as he sidefooted home a Patrice Evra cross with 22 minutes on the clock.
