Apple has confirmed that it is working on a fix for a flaw in iOS 7 that potentially exposes iPhone users photos, texts and Facebook content to hacking.
The weak point, which can be exploited through Control Center, was discovered just hours after the new operating system was released.
It appears to affect iPhone 4S and 5, but not the newly-announced 5S and 5C.
A spokesperson for the Cupertino firm told The Guardian: Apple takes user security very seriously. We are aware of this issue, and will deliver a fix in a future software update.
Control Center can be accessed by swiping up from the bottom of an iPhone screen, giving access to users alarms, calculator, camera and internet settings.
It is from the alarms screen that a combination of button presses can be employed to then open up photos, email, Twitter, Facebook, Flickr and more representing a serious breach of security.
This is not the first time flaws have been discovered on Apple devices, with problems on the iPhone 4 in 2010 and iPad in 2011 having to be fixed by subsequent software updates.
