Gerrard admits he doubted Suarez and Sturridge partnership

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has admitted he had doubts over Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridges lethal strike partnership.
The Reds deadly duo have scored 16 goals between them to fire Brendan Rodgers team to second place in the Premier League after the opening 11 games.
The form of the impressive front two and the partnership they have developed has seen Liverpool emerge as genuine title contenders this season.
However, Gerrard who is now relishing providing the ammunition from midfield has revealed he was sceptical whether Sturridge and Suarez could play together.
I will be honest and say that at the start, I wasnt sure whether it would work, he told the Daily Mail. But it has clicked without much work in training. Im excited as I think it can get better.
Daniel has grown as a player. He has been great for Liverpool but Liverpool have been great for him. If he keeps listening to the right people, he can improve.

Gerrard, who is closing in on the Peter Shiltons record of 125 England caps, also had a dig back at Sir Alex Ferguson after the former Manchester United manager claimed that the Reds legend was not a top, top player in his book.
107 caps isnt bad for someone who isnt a top, top player, is it said Gerrard.
Listen, hes entitled to his opinion. Im a fan of his; he is one of the best managers in the world.
Throughout my career I have had praise from all types of people including him and I am not vain enough to take it all.
I have had some unbelievable praise from him and he tried to buy me, certainly on one occasion. Maybe even two.
For me, the most important thing is what Brendan Rodgers and Roy Hodgson are thinking. I think they are really pleased with me and that is all I will worry about.
