AVB: United a team of divers

Andre Villas-Boas accused Manchester United of being a team of divers after a Danny Welbeck-won penalty earned the visitors a 2-2 draw at Tottenham.
Referee Mike Dean pointed to the spot in the second half when Welbeck went to ground under a Lloris challenge, with replays suggesting the French goalkeeper had made contact with the United striker.
Wayne Rooney slammed the 57th-minute spot-kick home for his second goal of the game to claim a point but Villas-Boas was adamant the referee had been conned and claimed it was not the first time.
The Portuguese said: The referee does not see that Danny Welbeck leaves his leg out to collide with the keeper.
The keeper has no intentions to bring the player down as you can see. He is not raising his hands, his hands are on the floor.
But it is not the first time that I have had seen us concede penalties against Manchester United where players leave their leg to make contact and then fall down.
I can understand it is difficult for referee Mike Dean to analyse but I dont think he is a good position to judge and for me it is a bad call.

Earlier, Rooney had cancelled out Kyle Walkers opener before a stunning Sandro strike had made it 2-1 to Spurs.
The spot-kick, however, denied Villas-Boas a valuable three points in a thrilling encounter.
