Barca 'to fight Arsenal for Martinez'

Arsenals summer move for Bayern Munichs Javi Martinez may not be as nailed on as they first hoped, with Barcelona reportedly showing a keen interest in the 25-year-old.
The Gunners were yesterday said to be readying a £20m move for the Spaniard, who is unhappy at the Bavarian club, but now Barcelona are believed to be prepared to offer in excess of £30m to seal his signature.
The Catalan giants are looking to rebuild for next season, after struggling both domestically and in Europe by their usual high standards.

A new centre-half is high on their shopping list, with club stalwart Carles Puyol departing at the end of the season and Martinezs ability to play in both a holding midfield and deeper defensive role has seen him emerge as one of their top targets.
Barca are also thought to still be keen on Chelseas David Luiz, another player able to switch between the two positions.
