We will give everything! Gerrard issues England battle cry

STEVEN Gerrard has urged England to seize the moment and make the nation proud in a rousing World Cup rallying cry.
The England captain will tell his team-mates they must have no regrets in his final dressing room address moments before leading Roy Hodgsons side into battle against Italy in tonights Group D opener in Manaus.
Gerrard described the honour of skippering his country at the finals in Brazil as the pinnacle of his international career and vowed England will attack the Azzurri in the Arena da Amazonia.
I have been asked many times What was the dream growing up The dream was to play for Liverpool and England, said Gerrard.
So to play for England and be the captain at a World Cup in Brazil is the pinnacle.
I will be proud leading this group of players out against Italy. I trust the players and I believe in my team-mates.
But I will be even prouder if we come home from this tournament with our heads held high and that we have gone out onto the pitch and given everything we have got for the English public back home.
And looking at the lads and being in and around them, I get the impression they are ready to give everything they have got.
I will probably say something in the dressing room, towards the end when we are ready to go out. It will be: Lets not have any regrets.
All the preparation is there. Lets believe. We have all the energy and all the work in the legs and in the tank. Lets relax and let it happen.
The key is just to not come off the pitch with any regrets and basically do what it takes to get that result. People are saying to me Would you be happy with a draw
We can win this game, so I would never settle for a draw before a game. If we are unable to win the game then we have to take a draw at least.

Danny Welbeck has recovered from a groin problem and is set to start with England coach Hodgsons only dilemma whether he picks Raheem Sterling or Adam Lallana on the right of a 4-2-3-1 formation.
The indications are that Southamptons Lallana is the likelier to start with Hodgson mindful about throwing youngsters into the lions den.
No doubt if I was watching from afar with no responsibility Id be clamouring myself for the youngsters, said Hodgson.
These are the players who dont have the baggage to carry with them, they are exciting talents with fantastic potential, but you have to be careful that we dont throw them into the lions den too early and we have to be aware that the World Cup is a little bit special.
Im really happy to be here, this is where I want to be and I can only hope that the team that I am responsible for performs well. I can give assurances that if its a question of wanting, desiring and giving our all to succeed then we will, there is no question of that. But its results and results sometimes turn everything on its head.
England will have to cope with the oppressive heat with the temperature at kick-off expected to be around 30 degrees Celsius, but Hodgson will not use the conditions as an excuse.
Asked if his players should reach for the stars, he said: Yes Per ardua ad astra (Through adversity to the stars) thats the royal air force motto, isnt it
