The ten worst additions made by Premier League clubs this summer.
Hugo Rodallega (Wigan to Fulham Free Transfer)
Fulham brought in the Wigan man after he was released by the Latics but what was the point The Colombian is a far from prolific marksman and the resultant arrivals of Mladen Petric and Dimitar Berbatov have rendered the move as fairly pointless.
Dont expect the 27 year old to be employed all that often. The two games of the season that Rodallega wasnt named in Martin Jols starting eleven saw the West London side score seven times, the one game he did start, Fulham drew a blank.
Christian Benteke (Genk to Aston Villa £7m)
£7m for a player on the back of one prolific season in the Belgian league is frankly insane. Expect the striker to fail to deliver the goals Aston Villa could sorely need in what could prove a very frustrating season.
Robert Green: West Ham to QPR Free Agent
The England international is known for dropping clangers and West Ham appear to have been happy to allow the 32 year old to leave when his contract came to a close, preferring instead to then bring in Finnish goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen.
It may appear that the decision to bring in Robert Green was not a wise one as the former Norwich City man shipped five goals on his QPR debut, and the arrival of Julio Cesar has all but ended the keepers Loftus Road career before it even got started.
Sebastien Bassong: Tottenham to Norwich City £4m
Norwich City decided they needed to beef up their defence following their five goal drubbing at Craven Cottage but a move to bring in Tottenham bit-part player Bassong doesnt appear to be the best bit of business. The Paris born Cameroon international has managed to fool a few teams into thinking he is a good player and the Canaries may be the latest to suffer.
The 26 year old has already been part of two Premier League relegation campaigns, could he clinch his hat-trick with Norwich City
Ryan Nelsen: Free Agent to QPR
Whats the point Yes the Blackburn Rovers man was available on a free but is he still able to do a job, doesnt look that way. It does seem to an extent that the West London side is merely trying to collect as many players as possible this summer, some of those purchases have been top notch, some, like this one, just seem pointless.
Alexander Buttner: Vitesse Arnham to Man United £3.9m
An odd signing this one. Sir Alex Ferguson appears to have hit the panic button and purchased a player that the clubs own scouts stated about the acquisition They ask you to create a top five of the best players in the league for every position. I had Buttner at number three or four on my list.
Yes Man United needed a back-up option to keep Patrice Evra on his toes but is the Vitesse Arnhem good enough for the job or have the Old Trafford side landed another Bebe
Jack Rodwell: Everton to Man City £15m
I dont mean this is a bad signing in terms of the player not being worth the money or even measuring the players actual ability. I am fairly certain that the former Everton man will in time find himself consigned to the bench where his career will stagnate.
Roberto Mancinis decision to purchase the England man seemed more out of desperation to spend than out of some huge desire to see Rodwell in Man City colours, that is indeed if the Italian was the one who sanctioned the deal. The Premier League clubs desperate attempts to sign Daniele De Rossi certainly give the impression that the signing of the 21 year old wasnt the managers first choice.
The arrival of Javi Garcia may have already rendered Rodwells arrival somewhat impotent.
Mohamed Diame: Wigan to West Ham Free
Sam Allardyce plays football a certain way and that type of football needs the inclusion of a strong enforcer but one has to wonder if Mohamed Diame is the man for the job. Also the following addition of Alou Diarra, who is a very able performer, would appear to leave some wondering just whom the Hammers boss will opt to use to fill his defensive midfield spot.

If your main attacking threat is Carlton Cole then fair enough you should bring in an alternative attacking option but is a move for Liverpool flop Andy Carroll is a wise one to make The answer will probably prove to be an emphatic NO, but there is some scope to suggest that the England man could prove his doubters wrong, as unlikely as that might seem.
Scott Sinclair: Swansea City to Man City £6.2m
Whats the point The former Chelsea man left Stamford Bridge to prevent his career from stagnating at the West London club. The talented attacker then moved to Swansea City and proved himself to be a quality player, so why then push for a move to Man City
Seems that Roberto Mancini only brought in the 23 year old to help fill the slot on the bench left by the escaping Adam Johnson, a signing that will prove incredibly pointless for all concerned, a move that could severely damage Sinclairs long term career plans.
