Manchester Citys summer spending spree could be coming to a swift standstill after Real Madrid insisted Citizens target Pepe is not for sale.
Incoming City boss Manuel Pellegrini, who is expected to be announced as Roberto Mancinis successor this coming week, is keen to bolster the clubs back-line and is thought to be eyeing Madrid centre-back Pepe, who he previously worked with at Real Madrid.
City have already got their summer spending underway with the acquisitions of Fernandinho and Jesus Navas, as they look to build a squad capable of challenging for the Premier League title, as well as improving their Champions League fortunes.
But it looks as though Madrid have put the brakes on Pepes departure from the Bernabeu, as they attempt to prevent a mass exodus following the departure of boss Jose Mourinho.
Pepe is not for sale and will not move this summer, at least thats my opinion, said Madrid chief Florentino Perez.
