Skrtel's agent urges Napoli to make move
Martin Skrtels agent has called on Napoli boss Rafael Benitez to make contact with Liverpool over a move for the defender.
The Slovakian internationals Anfield future has been in question in recent weeks, after he struggled to retain his place in Brendan Rodgers side, making just one Premier League start since their January defeat to Manchester United.
Arsenal are one of the clubs linked with a move for the 28-year-old, but former Liverpool boss Benitez is believed to be keen to take Skrtel to Napoli and the defenders agent Karol Csonto has urged the Spaniard to make his interest known to the Reds hierarchy.
There has been no contact between the two clubs. Martin has a contract with Liverpool and it is important to honour that, Csonto said.
Obviously Napoli know Martin well, but there cannot be any contact between us and them if they do not first reach an agreement with Liverpool.
Between Martin Skrtel and Rafa Benitez is a professional relationship that has gone on from the years they spent together at Liverpool.
But I think that if Napoli want to take Skrtel, they should first talk to Liverpool.
I will be in England next week to talk with Liverpool and define Martins future.
And Csonto also admitted Skrtel has already been in contact with members of the Napoli squad.
[Napoli midfielder] Marek Hamsik and Skrtel are very good friends and they met last week, he added.
The midfielder requested information from Martin about Benitez, while Skrtel has asked questions about Napoli.
Skrtel still has three years left to run on his Liverpool contract and is believed to be valued at around £12m by the Anfield club.
