Pearce: Blame the players, not me
Stuart Pearce lambasted Englands players after their embarrassing European Championship ended by plummeting to a new low with a 1-0 defeat to hosts Israel.
Having already lost to Italy and Norway, the Young Lions werent even able to restore any pride as Ofir Krieffs strike gave Israel victory.
It was a far cry from Englands pre-tournament record of nine wins in a row without conceding a goal and Pearce, who is now expected to lose his job as Under-21s coach, said: I think basically if you dont turn up and work hard enough in any given tournament, you wont get any success.

That was typical of today and probably the two games prior to it. I honestly dont believe I should be here answering questions on behalf of them.

They should be answering questions on why their performances were so poor, to be honest. I dont think its my responsibility at this stage to answer for a performance as bad as that.
This is the business end of the tournament and we got what we deserved. I dont think we deserved to win a game.
