Glenn Hoddle: Ill snub England Under-21 job unless FA change rules
Glenn Hoddle has warned the FA they must change their ruling or he will snub a reported offer to take up the role of managing Englands under-21s.
Hoddle has emerged as the outstanding candidate to take over the position, with Stuart Pearces departure expected to be confirmed within the next few days.
But according to the former England manager, working with the under-21s would not tempt him unless he was allowed free reign on who to call up.
It wouldnt [interest me] unless they changed the rules, he told Talksport.
Why would anyone be interested when you are taking your weapon away, when your better players arent going to be there with you
I feel sorry for Stuart Pearce. Whoever takes the job, or continues to do the job, why would they take it if you are not going to get your best players
Its like a boxer going into the ring with one arm tied behind his back.
Pearce was unable to name stars such as Danny Welbeck, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Phil Jones and Kyle Walker for the Under-21 European Championships in Israel because they were in friendly action for the senior team previously.
The move has baffled many around the footballing world, but it is understood that the FA are not considering a change.
The FA is expected to announce what happens with Pearce following a meeting next week.
