Gunners to take first shot at Rooney bid
Arsenal are set to start a bidding way for Wayne Rooney after the Manchester United frontman reiterated his desire to quit the club in a meeting with new boss David Moyes.
The Gunners have been interested in Rooney since the England international was said to have handed in a transfer request before the end of last season and Arsene Wenger is now prepared to make his move with a £25m bid.

Rooney and Moyes are believed to have met earlier this week, with the former Everton boss attempting to convince the 27-year-old to continue his career at Old Trafford.
But it appears the showdown talks did little to change Rooneys mind, several weeks after handing in a transfer request to Sir Alex Ferguson for the second time in three years.
And the news is set to spark a bidding war across Europe for the England internationals services, with Chelsea, Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona and Real Madrid among the clubs keen on helping Rooney begin a new chapter in his career.

But it is the Gunners who have yet to seal a big-money deal for Gonzalo Higuain who are to start the bidding at a club record fee of £25m, according to the Manchester Evening News.
It is unlikely Arsenal will be able to outbid any of their opponents should it come down to it, but Wengers men could be one step ahead of the competition, with Rooney believed to favour a move to London over leaving the Premier League.
