Everton make a move for Ajax Alderweireld

Everton have made a move for Ajax defender Toby Alderweireld, according to the players agent.
Roberto Martinez has already added four signings to his squad this summer, but is still working on strengthening his ranks before the season begins.
Alderweireld, 24, is a long-term target for Liverpool and Tottenham but his agent Soren Lerby has now claimed the Toffees are also in the mix.
Its true that Everton have made an approach for Alderweireld, Lerby told Belgian newspaper Gazet van Antwerpen.
But there are other concrete options. Toby will now have to decide which team he sees as the biggest challenge.
The Belgium internationals contract with Ajax expires next summer.

Meanwhile, Martinez has revealed he is excited by the impact that loan signing Gerard Deulofeu can have at Goodison this season.
The talented 19-year-old has joined from Barcelona B and, while stressing it may take time for the teenager to get to grips with his new surroundings, the Everton manager is happy with the class he brings to his squad.
We need to be patient as hes a young man, but in the same manner I think we can enjoy his quality, he said.
Hes decided to come to Everton and we need to look after him well.
Clearly hes got the talent to help the team and were really excited about Gerards progress.
