Selling Wayne Rooney would be the biggest mistake Manchester United could make, says Dwight Yorke
Dwight Yorke has warned Manchester United that selling Wayne Rooney would be the biggest mistake they could make.
Former Old Trafford favourite Yorke is adamant his old club must keep the disgruntled England international if they are to successfully defend their Premier League title.
Rooneys future has been one of the summer transfer sagas with Chelsea keen on signing the ex-Everton striker to enhance their hopes of climbing back to the top of the heap.
But Yorke, who scored 64 goals in 151 games for United and helped them to their famous 1999 Champions League, Premier League and FA Cup treble, said: It would be a massive mistake if Manchester United sold Wazza.
They shouldnt sell him to title rivals like Chelsea, they shouldnt sell him to anyone. Period.
Wayne is 27 and coming into his prime. He just needs to feel that he is loved and I am sure he will return to his best for United this season.

He has given his best to Manchester United over the past five or so years and I am sure he will continue to do so.

David Moyes is a top manager and I am sure he will do well at United but it may take time for him to attract the very best players to Old Trafford, the former Aston Villa and Blackburn forward added.
The marquee signings may want a little while to see now things are going now Sir Alex Ferguson is not at the helm.
If Sir Alex was still in charge players wouldnt think twice about joining and it will take time to see now it is working out under David Moyes.
If they dont make a marquee signing or add a couple of top players, I think United still have the squad to retain the championship after winning it so easily last season.
But I am worried they may find it difficult to become a real force again in Europe.
