Jose Mourinho dismisses Juan Mata rumours but confirms Chelsea departures
Jose Mourinho has quashed rumours Juan Mata could be departing Chelsea this summer, but admits there will be departures before the end of the transfer window.
The Blues are set to steal Brazilian international Willian from under the noses of London rivals Tottenham, leaving Chelsea with a plethora of midfielders.
Rumours have been circulating all summer over the future of Chelseas two-time Player of the Year Mata, but despite Mourinho already insisting the Spaniard will not be leaving Stamford Bridge, speculation has continued to surround the 25-year-old.
But the Chelsea boss has again stated Mata will remain part of his plans.
He is a player we all like, he is a player we want to keep. We want more quality in the team, not less, Mourinho said.
Juan is not a player we want to lose.
However, question marks have been placed over the futures of John Obi Mikel and Victor Moses, after Mourinho revealed players would have to leave the club in order to make way for the incoming Willian.
The point is not to sell, the point is I want a 22 player squad. Do we need to sell No we dont. Do we need to loan Probably yes, I dont like to work with a big group of players, he added.
If somebody is coming, somebody will leave.
I told you I was happy with my squad but every manager says they are happy but they are always not happy, we always want something more and never close the door to the possibility of having something more.
I told you we have plan B and plan C, so I was indicating we are open to other possibilities.
