Bannan buzzing after fortunes lift for club and country
Barry Bannan is looking to the future with optimism for club and country after continuing a dramatic turnaround in his personal fortunes.
Gordon Strachan handed the midfielder a start on the right against Macedonia on Tuesday, despite him only making one appearance in the previous five months, against Croatia in Scotlands 1-0 victory in June.
Bannan set up Ikechi Anyas opening goal as a 2-1 win saw Scotland move off the bottom of their World Cup qualifying group.
The 23-year-old had been frozen out at Aston Villa but he secured a move to Crystal Palace before last weeks transfer deadline.
Bannan did not have time to meet his new team-mates before flying north following his late call-up to the Scotland squad and will report for training with Ian Holloways side on his return from Skopje.

The midfielder, 23, said: Things are looking up. The last couple of months have been a bit down for me but Im sure I will come out the other end stronger for it.
After the win, Im buzzing and Im on a high going to a new club. Things are looking good.
Shaun Maloneys late free-kick handed Scotland victory and Bannan reckons manager Strachan is turning the national sides fortunes around.
He said: There wasnt any shame in losing to Belgium [on Friday] and we have come over against another strong team and turned them over.
So I think you can see big signs of improvement under this manager.

Bannan was not even training with the first team at Paul Lamberts Villa.
I had not kicked a ball since the Croatia game, he said.
I cant thank Gordon Strachan enough. A lot of managers would look at that and say: Hes got to play before he gets called up.
But this manager has shown great faith in me.
