Gareth Bale denies spat with Cristiano Ronaldo ahead of Real Madrid debut
Gareth Bale has dismissed talk of a rift with Cristiano Ronaldo and says the Portuguese superstar is helping him settle at Real Madrid.
Bale was rumoured to have angered Ronaldo by replacing him as the worlds most expensive player, following his £85million summer switch from Tottenham.
But after the duo met each other for the first time on Wednesday, Bale says the duo are enjoying a blossoming relationship.
It was amazing to meet Cristiano, said Bale.
Hes a nice guy and hes made me feel welcome just like everybody else did. They made me feel settled straight away and Im just looking forward to getting on the pitch and doing well.
Bale is in contention to make his Madrid debut this weekend, when newly promoted Villarreal host Carlo Ancelottis side at the Madrigal Stadium.
And despite his lack of match action in recent weeks, Bale says he is ready to go straight into the starting lineup for the clash if required.
I feel good and want to play, he added.
I have been training in the last week with Wales. I have had two good sessions today and I got half an hour with Wales on Tuesday.
Obviously I am a bit behind everyone else physically, but I am hopeful I can catch up as soon as possible.
The 24-year-old was speaking at the launch of Reals new orange away kit, where he joined established stars such as Marcelo and Karim Benzema in showing off the new kit.
Bale was introduced after hiding behind a curtain at the presentation, and then struggled with the language barrier when questions were put to him.
