Olivier Giroud: Arsenals move for Gonzalo Higuain bothered me but Luis Suarez would have been great
Olivier Giroud would have welcomed Luis Suarez to Arsenal with open arms but the striker was less keen on Gonzalo Higuain joining him at the Emirates.
The Frenchman has been in good form for the Gunners so far this season, scoring in all four Premier League matches.
But Giroud remains the only out-and-out striker on the clubs books after moves for Suarez and Higuain failed to materialise this summer.
Giroud was hoping Arsenals pursuit of Liverpool striker Suarez would succeed as he sees the flexible Uruguayan as the ideal partner for him up front.
However, he was worried that the possible signing of Higuain would have led to a straight scrap for one position.
When the name of Suarez was circulating, I honestly thought it was a good thing for the team. He would have been complementary, Giroud told LEquipe.
Im getting a little more legitimacy, especially this season. But I repeat, Suarez would have been a cannon.
