Defoe double destroys Tromso
A first-half brace from Jermain Defoe helped seal a comfortable 3-0 victory for Tottenham in their Europa League opener against Tromso.
Defoe netted twice in the first half before a superb strike from summer signing Christian Eriksen rounded off the win at White Hart Lane.
It took Spurs 21 minutes to open the scoring against their Norwegian opponents, as Erik Lamela making his first start for the club set up Defoe to place a deft chip over the advancing Marcus Sahlman.

The England international then doubled his tally for the night eight minutes later, when he slotted home a first-time finish from Lewis Holtbys through-ball.
Spurs comfortable night was tainted slightly as Danny Rose hobbled off with an injury, to be replaced by Jan Vertonghen before the break, while Mousa Dembele was stretched off early in the second half.

But despite their injury woes, Andre Villas-Boas side continued to cruise though the game, with goalkeeper Hugo Lloris having little to do.
And the result was wrapped up four minutes from time when Eriksen curled the ball over Sahlman from the edge of the penalty box.
Tottenham next travel to Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala on October 3.
