Magpies don't intend to allow Remy to fly the nest
Newcastle manager Alan Pardew is eager to sign striker Loic Remy on a permanent basis after his impressive start in Tyneside.
Remy scored twice in Saturdays 3-2 win at Cardiff and has now found the net five times since securing a season-long loan to the Magpies from QPR.
Newcastle will face stiff competition for the Frenchmans services in the summer if he maintains his current form and Pardew wishes he had been able to sign him at the start of the year before losing out to the Hoops.
I wish he had joined in January, said the Toon Army boss. I still remember the night clearly when we thought we had done the deal.
We had a nice glass of wine, gave ourselves a nice, hearty, warm handshake and the next day he wasnt there.

Rangers manager Harry Redknapp has indicated he will be happy for Remy to move on in the summer and Pardew added: It was interesting to read Harrys comments that he probably wont be going back, but we will have to see.
Remy prefers to focus of his current form and is not thinking about the future but admitted he is happy to be at Newcastle.
For the moment the question is not in my head, he said. We have time and I will go game by game. It is a good question but right now I am not focused on that.
I dont regret not joining in January. I decided to join QPR in January, but it was a choice [to join Newcastle] after QPR went down.
I was happy to see Newcastle come back to me so now it is down to me to do the best I can for the club because they came back for me.
