Hoddle: England nuts to hope for success in Brazil
Glenn Hoddle has warned England to forget about claiming World Cup glory in Brazil, and instead focus on building a base to mount a serious challenge for the next European Championships.
The Three Lions face a tough to task to even make the plane to Brazil in 2014, with tricky qualifiers against Montenegro and Poland yet to navigate in the next week.
However, Hoddle, who has joined Greg Dykes FA commission looking at ways of improving the nations fortunes, believes England could be better served using next years World Cup as a stepping stone to develop future hopes.
It is unrealistic for England to think they can go and win the World Cup in Brazil, Hoddle told BBC Sport.
No European team has ever won a World Cup in South America.

Spain have Europes best chance, but even then they probably only have a 35% chance.
England have got a lesser chance than that. I dont want to put a percentage on that.
I do believe we will be there, but it is about the experience that the likes of the [Ross] Barkleys, the [Jack] Wilsheres can get under their belt so that we can have a real onslaught at the Euros.
Hoddle has been joined on the FA commission by Danny Mills, Howard Wilkinson and Dario Gradi.
