Roy Hodgson set to drop Jack Wilshere for Englands World Cup clash with Montenegro
Roy Hodgson is considering dropping under-fire midfielder Jack Wilshere from the England side to face Montenegro.
The Arsenal ace has endured a tough fortnight after being photographed smoking last weekend, while he has also hit the headlines following his row on England eligibility.
And it appears Hodgson has taken note of the growing spot light on the 21-year-old, with the Three Lions boss considering leaving him out against Montenegro tonight.
The clash is one of two crucial World Cup qualifiers that England must win to qualify for the tournament in Brazil next year.
Hodgson is acutely aware of the importance of being at the tournament and does not want anything to distract from the task of qualifying.
As such, its thought that he is ready to leave out Wilshere, with Michael Carrick and Frank Lampard battling it out for the right to partner skipper Steven Gerrard in the middle.
If Wilshere did not make the clash it would be a personal blow, with Hodgson insisting during the week that his form is good and that is all that matters.
Elsewhere, James Milner should shrug off a calf problem to play while Daniel Sturridge is in line to partner Wayne Rooney in attack.
