Possible future England star Adnan Januzaj is one of ten sports people shortlisted for the BBC young sports personality of the year 2013.
The 18-year-old Manchester United player will hope to repeat the success of team-mate Wayne Rooney, who won the award in 2002.
His presence comes as a surprise as the Belgian-born Januzaj has made only a handful of club appearances and is yet to choose which country to represent on international level as he can also be eligible for England, Albania and Croatia.
Although not British, he is eligible for the BBC award as he is resident in and plays in the UK, and his main achievements were in this country and not for a national team.
The FA, who want to see Januzaj in a Three Lions shirt, face FIFA residency rules that block the young talent from playing for England until five years after his 18th birthday, which would rule him out until 2018.
The footballer is up against sprint runner Dina Asher-Smith, 17, who is the second youngest female to win a medal in the world athletics championships helping Great Britain win bronze in the 4x100m relay.
Charley Hull, 17, who was the youngest-ever player to appear for either Europe or the Unites States in golfs Solheim Cup is also shortlisted.
Other on the list include 15-year-old shooter Amber Hill, the youngest ever winner of a senior World Cup in her sport; James Guy, the youngest ever male swimmer to compete for Britain at a major championship for two decades; Jess Judd, the youngest athlete to represent Britain in the 800m at the world championships; 15-year-old Paralympic champion swimmer Amy Marten; European champion weightlifter Rebekah Tiler; record-breaker wheelchair racer Isaac Towers, 15; and canoe slalom 2013 C1W Senior World Cup champion Kimberley Woods.
