Arsenal target Alaba pens new deal at Bayern
Arsenals hopes of signing Bayern Munich star David Alaba have been scuppered after the left-back penned a new three-year deal with the European champions.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has been a long time admirer of the versatile 21-year-old and was thought to be close to making a move for the Austrian international in January.
That, however, will now not happen after Alaba, one of the stars of Munichs treble-winning side last season, signed a new contract that will see him remain at the Bundesliga champions until 2018.

Alaba, who joined Munich in 2008 from Austria Vienna, said: Ive been at Bayern since 2008. Its long since become my club and Im happy that everything is now set in stone.
Bayern chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said: Today he belongs to the best and most successful full-backs in Europe and we are very pleased to be able to count on his performances in the future.
