He joined Chelsea in 2010 as a 17-year-old, from Czech side Sigma Olomouc. He remained at his hometown club on loan for the first half of the 2010-11 season before moving to Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea fought off competition from Arsenal, Bayer Leverkusen and AC Milan to secure Kalas services.
Kalas joined Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem on loan for both the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons, making 67 appearances across the two campaigns.
He broke his leg during pre-season training last summer.
The youngster has now made three appearances for Chelsea this term, twice coming on as an 89th-minute substitute against Arsenal in the Capital One Cup and Galatasaray in the Champions League. Yesterday was his first start and Premier League debut.
