Brendan Rodgers agrees new four-year contract to keep him at Liverpool until 2018
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has agreed a new four-year deal with the Merseyside club, according to reports.
Rodgers current deal still has a year left to run but the Liverpool hierarchy have been keen to tie the northern Irishman down to a long-term contract to fend off interest from other clubs and reward him for a fantastic season.
Liverpool may look set to miss out on the Premier League crown after last nights 3-3 draw with Crystal Palace, but nevertheless it will be the Reds highest finish since 2008-09, since which time theyve not even managed Champions League qualification.
Rumours have linked Barcelona with a move for the former Swansea boss, but Liverpool appear to have moved quickly to dispel any summer speculation surrounding their manager.
According to the Telegraph, the final year of Rodgers new four-year contract is not optional depending on performance, as is the case with his current deal.
This appears to signal great intent from the Liverpool board, who clearly have faith in Rodgers to continue to deliver results.
And the Reds boss will hope he is backed further in the coming transfer window.
